In the early days materials were loaded directly onto the deck of the Beaver and unloaded at the island as seen here. This was extremely hard work and delayed the Beaver as loading and unloading was done. At this time there were no railings along the sides.

Almost everything in these buildings – the sticks, the stones; the steel and the concrete; the machinery and tools and supplies – was brought to Mission Point by the Beaver.
