Caux Initiatives for Business (CIB) aims to engage business-people and decision-influencers in honest conversations on the broad issues associated with globalization and the human face of economics.
- Participants are motivated by a shared commitment to personal integrity. They aim to address economic problems of immediate or long-term concern, including environmental imbalance, social exclusion, job creation and poverty reduction.
- CIB carries forward its aims through annual conferences at Caux, Switzerland, and Panchgani, India.
The first Caux Conference for Business and Industry (CCBI) or Caux Industrial Conference as it was called then, took place in 1973. Since then, many conferences have been held in Caux and elsewhere.
CIB's mission is to 'strengthen the motivations of care and moral commitment in economic life and thinking, in order to create jobs, correct economic and environmental imbalances and tackle the root causes of poverty'.
CIB aims to engage individuals in honest conversations on the broad issues associated with globalization and the role that the individual can play in bringing positive changes in business and economic life.
CIB further aims to equip people with practical tools, grounded in a moral and ethical framework, for use in their places of work. The forums are motivated by a mutual commitment to address economic problems of immediate or long-term concern, including environmental imbalances, poverty, corruption and social exclusion.
