Key issues that the organization was dealing with were identified, as well as the steps that are needed to overcome these issues, to further develop F4F, to renew and grow existing projects, to strengthen and broaden international relations. The format of Open Space was used to answer the question ‘How can we safeguard and transmit the values of ‘Initiatives of Change’ and to support each other in the circumstances of modern world?’ Many important topics both for organization and for the society were raised, such as: the necessity of a Visiting Course, history of F4F and IofC, and which perspectives these organizations have, the importance of the ‘Healing the past’ programme, reasons and consequences of burnouts among people who care about others and how to overcome it, etc.
One of major results of the conference was holding a General Assembly and Board Elections of ‘Foundations for Freedom’, formation of a Management group and Revision committee. The mornings started with quiet time / reflection in smaller groups, and evenings were finishing with loud singing/dancing, talent show and pajama-party. We are grateful to all participants for their willingness to come, for their active participation and input into thinking about the future development of the ‘Foundations for Freedom’.
It has been 2,5 days of deep, fruitful, creative, in groups and individual, inspiring and sometimes confusing, and definitely uniting cooperation. We talked a lot, had hot discussions, intensively listened to the speakers and each other, were not always happy with what was going on, sang loudly, laughed to tears, studied national dances, shared out talents till midnight, painted mugs and ginger-bread, played snowballs, sang our own anthem, were embracing the wisdom of common quiet time and were ready for unexpected in Open Space, which we trusted. We shared something deep, hugged tightly, were sincerely grateful to each other. And all that time we were in one boat, which we were creating together all those days.
